Holy Given Armavir: Week 4

Holy Given: Armavir International School of Missions
Armavir, Russia
Week 4: 29 June - 5 July, 2009

The week started off with students returning from the extended weekend outreaches to 3 different cities in unreached people group areas. On the outreach, they had many different opportunities to put into practice what they had been learning. They shared the Gospel in a park; prayed for inner healing for those who had lost relatives in terrorist atrocities; blessed a poor elderly lady by buying bricks and carrying them to her flat to renovate her decaying flat; renovated a camp building; prayed for two old ladies who were seriously ill, dressed their wounds and cut their nails (one of the old ladies had the first stages of gangrene and after being prayed for, the next day liquid had stopped flowing from her wounds); drew a picture with a Muslim child who had never had the opportunity to draw a picture before; prayed on a mountain top overlooking an unreached village.

Teaching topics included Russian Church history and missiology along with learning about Russian missionaries of the past. We had the privilege of hearing a former HG student sharing about her trip to a closed country. In teaching on the Beattitudes we saw a film about the persecuted church in N. Korea and a spirit of intercession fell on the students in a new way with many of them weeping and crying out for the persecuted church.

The presence of the Lord during times of worship was really sweet and students continued to get set free from things of the past and to be released into more joy. At the weekend we went as a school to the local reservoir where we enjoyed fellowshipping together, swimming and a barbecue.
